At first glance I would imagine many people reading this post would assume it is about Taylor Swift. Indeed, Taylor Swift is a talented, young songwriter and singer, but Taylor Swift is not the musician I am referring to in the title.
I am referring to Ember Swift, the superbly gifted indie singer and songwriter who adeptly mixes English and Chinese lyrics and instrumentation into her songs. As many who read this blog know, I am primarily an alternative rock ‘n’ roll devotee, but after just a single listen to her five tracks on reverbnation I became a big fan of Ember’s energized and magical indie vibe.
Born and raised in Canada and now living in Beijing, China, Ember Swift draws skillfully from both cultures and produces a fascinating sound that knocks your socks off. She is scheduled to perform a Pump House Concert in East Lansing on October 8th and I definitely intend to be there.
Give Ember Swift’s music a listen, I think you will really enjoy it.
